2002 Freestyle Players Association
World Championships
Boston, MA

Welcome to the exciting world of flying disc freestyle. The Freestyle Players Association (FPA) is excited to be a part of this wonderful series of DVDs and videotapes showing the finest freestyle action in the world. These routines were culled from the 2002 FPA World Championships and show all variety of freestyle play. It is hoped these routines will inspire and entertain.

These routines are judged in three categories, Difficulty, Artistic Impression and Execution. Difficulty covers both physical difficulty (gymnastics and other extreme restrictions), technical difficulty (intricate disc manipulations, multiple disc tricks and other esoteria) and combinations of the two (including consecutivity, the ability to combine tricks without "resetting” and coops-mutual teamwork interactions). Artistic Impression includes how a freestyle team choreographs a routine to music, each other and the audience. It entails myriad facets including variety (throws, catches and other moves), relation to music (catching on a note for instance), flow and form. Execution is simply how well a team hangs onto a disc. Drops, bobbles and bad throws all are factors affecting execution.
